The Zimbabwe Agricultural Society continues to provide support to agricultural colleges in the country, as part of its facilitation strategy. At Gwebi Agricultural College during the 69th graduation ceremony ZAS sponsored the “Best Overall Student Floating Trophy and Prize, which was this year won by Tafadzwa Mvula on 11 December 2020.
Gwebi Principal, Mrs S. Sibanda, noted that 97% of their students had gained practical experience by serving their work-related learning periods on farms, and that the college had participated at the annual Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, an interactive platform that allowed them to engage their partners.
Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, Hon D. Karoro, gave the opening remarks and urged students to use their skills to boost Agriculture education and improve food security. He highlighted that in order to achieve vision 2030, the skills the graduates acquired during the training should go a long way in bridging the skills gap but also urged the graduates to become farmers in their own right.
The ceremony was well attended by graduates, parents and Directors in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology among others.
